What happens during a Reiki session?
Firstly, you will have a short consultation to discuss your needs, relevant medical history and your progress, if it is a follow-up session.
You remain fully clothed in loose, comfortable clothing. You lie down on a massage couch and the Practitioner will play some gentle music and talk you through a short guided relaxation or visualisation. During the session, the practitioner will place their hands in various positions over your body, either lightly touching, or with their hands a few inches from your body. You may feel some heat/tingling/floating/gentle pushing/pulling - you may see lights/colours - you may fall asleep! You may also feel nothing, it isn't necessary for the Reiki to work.
After the session, you can discuss with the Practitioner how the treatment went and make plans for further sessions if needed.
What should I wear?
If you are coming for a Reiki Treatment, you will remain fully clothed and should wear loose, comfortable clothing so that you can be fully relaxed during the treatment. Pinching jeans don't tend to work too well!
If you are coming for Indian Head Massage, you will be provided with a sarong towel to wear over your top half so that your shoulders are bare. Bra straps can be tucked under the arms. As part of this massage is seated, it is especially important that what you wear on your lower half isn't tight or constricting.
How many sessions will I need?
Again, this varies from person to person and will differ depending on what you're looking for and what your existing condition is. Some people find that after just one or two sessions they feel much better and have a noticeable improvement in their condition/pain levels/mood. Others like to have regular Reiki sessions over longer periods of time - or maybe come back once a month or so to maintain. It will depend on how you feel your treatments are progressing, how you are progressing and how well you feel.
You may even decide that, even though you feel generally well and happy, Reiki Healing is such a pleasant experience, you'd like to have it regularly to maintain your equilibrium. We will discuss your treatment plan together and tailor it to meet your needs - you will be able to decide how often you'd like to come and for how many sessions.

Frequently asked questions:
What will I feel?
Experiences of Reiki vary from person to person and from session to session. Some of the most common experiences include: heat/cold, tingling sensations, seeing colours/images, pushing/pulling sensations or twitching muscles. If these sensations are experienced, they are usually very gentle and completely safe. Some people also feel a strong release of emotion. You may experience some or none of these sensations - it is not a requirement of a successful treatment that you do. Almost everyone experiences very deep relaxation and this is by far the most common and most likely experience of Reiki. For more information through feedback from Reiki clients, click here.
I can't afford lots of sessions, are there discounts?
I want as many people as possible to have access to Reiki Healing if they want it, regardless of the cost. For this reason, I run Pay What You Can days on the last Friday of every month. On these days, you can book any of the treatments and payment is on a donation basis only - you simply pay what you feel you can afford. This does not apply to Reiki Training Courses.
Do you do gift vouchers?
Yes, Gift Vouchers can be bought for any amount required. Simply contact me to arrange.
Who can have Reiki?
Anyone! Reiki is a very gentle, natural therapy and is completely safe for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly.
If you are on regular medication, it is recommended that you consult your G.P. both prior to treatment and in-between sessions, in order that your G.P. can monitor your dosage and ensure that it is still right for you.
Please do not consume alcohol on the day of your treatment. It is not possible to treat anyone who has used drugs within the last 72 hours.
If you have undiagnosed pain, please consult with your G.P. prior to treatment.
